Food... Fashion... and Fun is my new ice breaker devoted to trade, children and women. At the moment, what can be more FUN than taking on Apple Inc. Apple Inc. is well on the course of becoming identified as an evil corporation. How does Apple Inc. manage to sell while playing a leading role in a counterculture that's repressive to women? It's simple... lawsuits! We must carefully examine the following:
A counterculture is a subculture whose values and norms of behavior deviate from those of mainstream society, often in opposition to mainstream cultural mores. While counterculture undercurrents and minor subcultures arise with some frequency, a true counterculture includes a significant number of people and persists for a notable period of time. A counterculture movement expresses the ethos, aspirations, and dreams of a specific population during a well-defined era - a social manifestation of zeitgeist (meaning - "the spirit of the times" or "the spirit of the age". In the case of Apple Inc. the zeitgeist is namely... "out of the closet"). When oppositional forces reach critical mass, countercultures can trigger dramatic cultural changes. Apple Inc.'s counterculture has already triggered opposition (with its logo) as use of its devices has created a West Coast social norm throughout the gay community in lay terms known as "do a hickey" (among females) and "more sugar ready" (among males) referring to get a wart (rather tumor)!
Apple Inc. has a branding strategy that focuses on the emotions. The Apple Inc. brand personality is about lifestyle; imagination; and power-to-the-people through technology. The Apple Inc. brand personality is also about simplicity and the removal of complexity from people's lives; people-driven product design; and about being a really humanistic (ie - out of the closet) company with a heartfelt connection with its customers.
Apple Inc. uses its brand to compete across several highly competitive markets, including the personal computer industry with its Macintosh line of computers and related software, the consumer electronics industry with products such as the iPod, digital music distribution through its iTunes Music Store, the smart phone market with the Apple iPhone, magazine, book, games and applications publishing via the AppsStore for iPhone and the iPad tablet computing device, and movie and TV content distribution with Apple TV. For marketers, the company is also establishing a very strong presence to rival Google in the advertising market, via its Apps business and iAd network. Apple Inc. has successfully built a network to promote gay propaganda starting in its pre-foundation.
Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak had withdrawn from Reed College and UC Berkeley, respectively by 1975. Aside from their interest in up-to-date technology, the impetus for "the two Steves" seems to have had another source. In his essay, "From Satori to Silicon Valley" (published 1986), cultural historian Theodore Roszak made the point that the Apple Computer emerged from within the West Coast counterculture and the need to produce print-outs, letter labels, and databases. Roszak offers a bit of background on the development of the two Steve's prototype models, which faced an immediate ruff start among competitors.
Apple Inc. begin to struggle when it saw the Apple II series as too expensive to produce, while taking away sales from the low end Macintosh. In 1990, Apple Inc. released the Macintosh LC with a single expansion slot for the Apple IIe Card to migrate Apple II users to the Macintosh platform. Apple stopped selling the Apple IIe in 1993.
Microsoft continued to gain market share with windows focusing on delivering software to cheap commodity personal computers while Apple Inc. was delivering a richly engineered, but expensive, experience. Apple Inc. relied on high profit margins and never developed a clear response. Instead they sued Microsoft for using a graphical user interface similar to the Apple Lisa in Apple Computer, Inc. v. Microsoft Corporation. The lawsuit dragged on for years before it was finally dismissed. At the same time, a series of major product flops and missed deadlines sullied Apple's reputation, and Sculley was replaced by Michael Spindler.
Apple Inc. is a member of the Business Software Alliance (BSA), whose principal activity is trying to stop copyright infringement of software produced by BSA members; Apple Inc. treats all its intellectual property as a business asset, engaging in litigation as one method among many to police its assets and to respond to claims by others against it. Apple Inc.'s portfolio of intellectual property is broad enough, for trademarks alone, to encompass several pages of the company's website and, in April 2012, it listed 176 general business trademarks, 79 service marks, seven trademarks related to NeXT products and services, and two trademarks related to FileMaker. Apple Inc. claims copyright interests in multiple products and processes and owns and licenses patents of various types as well and, while it states it generally does not license its patent portfolio, it does work with 3rd parties having an interest in product interoperability. Between January 2008 and May 2010, Apple Inc. filed more than 350 cases with the U.S. Patent and trademark office alone, most in opposition to or taking exception to others' use of the terms 'apple', 'pod', and 'safari'; those cases include sellers of apples (the fruit), as well as many others' less unassuming use of the term "apple".
Currently, Samsung confirmed just last Wednesday that it plans to hold high level meetings with Google to discuss the growing threat of Apple Inc. "I will meet Google Executive Chairman Eric Shmidt in Seoul", Samsung mobile boss Shin Jong-Kyun told The Korea Times during the Galaxy Note II launch event in S. Korea. Shin wouldn't elaborate but he did add that Samsung will be meeting with major carrier partners in the US next week as well. While the task at hand - battling Apple Inc. in numerous courts around the world and fixing devices that have already been deemed to have infringed on Apple Inc. patents - is daunting, Shin noted that business is still booming. "Samsung revised up this year's total handset sales target to 400 million from our earlier projection of 370 million", he said. All of this following Samsung's crushing $1 billion loss in its high-profile patent lawsuit with Apple Inc.
Apple Computer Inc. announced in June 1994 a software development and education project for Ukraine that's designed to take advantage of a labor force with high computer skills and low wages.
In a joint agreement with the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Apple Inc. will train programmers, assign them basic programming and market Ukrainian software inventions abroad. There are roughly 500,000 computer programmers among Ukraine's 53 million citizens. Half of the country's programmers are said to live in Kiev.
In return Ukrainian programmers will write software for Apple Inc. at a quarter of the price that such work would cost in the West. The Ukrainian subsidiary will also set 45% of its profits from software exports marketed by Apple Inc. to purchase Apple hardware.
Former President Leonid M. Kravchuk endorsed the Apple Inc. project after a study predicted that Ukraine could capture 2% of the world's software market and create 100,000 jobs within 5 years. Due to the knowledge of Apple Inc.'s West Coast counterculture, we have to closely follow the campaign trail of Kravchuk.
During the 2004 presidential elections Kravchuk actively supported the candidacy of Viktor Yanukovych and was a member of the Yanukovych team that negotiated with "the opposition" in the aftermath of this disputed election. In November 2004 he told the media that he was afraid that the resulting crisis would cause the disintegration of the country, intensifying movements for certain regions of Ukraine to join other countries. Kravchuk endorsed Yulia Tymoshenko during the 2010 presidential elections campaign. He explained his shift in support from Yanukovych to Tymoshenko was caused because he felt Yanukovych "turned his back" on all the issues Kravchuk wanted him to address as president: the Ukrainian language, culture and the Holodomor.
The National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Apple's "Project Ukraine" partner) regulates the Ukrainian language. The Ukrainian language is one to the main topics surrounding this month's Ukrainian elections for two reasons. First, language has been a hot-button topic, closely associated with general issues of identity that include the interpretation of Ukraine's history and perceptions about how Ukraine should interact with Western institutions like the EU and NATO. Presumably, Party of Regions strategists expected this law to mobilize voters in the party's traditional areas of strength. Second, the language bill could introduce additional funds from Apple Inc. that aids in the US West Coast's counterculture of sexual violence and crimes against humanity. NOTE: In Part I of "Meet the War Criminals" (a previous blog) I noted that prior to the Cold War, the US utilized its West Coast counterculture to infiltrate and challenge the social norms of many countries utilizing language specialist in 40 languages right out of the Presidio in San Francisco, CA. Their job was to misdirect the eyes of local citizens by relentlessly building US nationalism by pointing out "freedom" in America.
These facts opens questions about the political imprisonment of former Ukraine Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko. The campaign support of Yulia Tymoshenko by Kravchuk fueled and increased tensions between Yanukovych and Tymoshenko. Yanukovych was pressured away from all the issues Kravchuk wanted him to address forcing him to focus on economic issues. This complicates the situation since Yulia Tymoshenko headed the company that was responsible for Ukrainian oil revenues. To deal with this threat, Yanukovych chose to simply stall Ukrainian oil revenue operations by raising questions about the rate of the new gas contract signed by Prime Ministers Vladimir Putin and Yulia Tymoshenko. We must be clear about the Party of Regions attempt to criminalize the Ukraine using its connection with Apple Inc.
Money is like language - the more people speak the same language, the easier it is to communicate; the larger the number of people sharing the same technology, the easier it is to expand. This makes the Apple project with the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine vital. At the start of my trading career Apple Inc. traded around $85 per share. Today it has surpassed $700 per share making Apple Inc. the economic engine for the US during the Global Financial Crisis. This is where Apple Inc. plays a role in US led crimes against humanity. It's identity with the West Coast counterculture of the gay community facilitates the use of willful bodily harm through sexual violence. Bo on the look-out for another round in the US Bond Market (following the Federal Reserve's Operation Twist this December) as Yulia Tymoshenko's imprisonment has severely slowed progress for Ukraine to join the EU, thus creating greater interoperability for Apple users. Also, stay tuned for Part II of Meet the War Criminals as we examine sexual violence up-close!
